About MAUK Women’s Forum
Malayalee Association of the UK has a proud history of actively promoting equal rights and opportunities for Women in society. The task of empowering women in the Malayalee community and meeting their specific needs were undertaken by MAUK’s Women’s Forum for many decades. In 2012, the Women’s Group was created in an experimental programme to highlight the progress and parity Malayalee women have achieved. Furthermore, it was an attempt to make the Director Board be more inclusive, encouraging both genders to work collaboratively towards a shared goal. However, this experiment had failed to meet its objectives especially in delivering women specific activities and was dismantled. TheWomen’s Forum was then relaunched in March 2018 with revised objectives and a new vision.
Aims and objectives
MAUK Women’s Forum aims to empower women by providing them with a platform to speak up, raise awareness of issues faced by women in society and campaign for equality, respect and appreciation of all women. The Forum will also provide a support network for women in the community when required and complement MAUK’s charitable work.
The Forum is run by a sub-committee consisting of MAUK Directors and volunteers. Members of the local community with creative and practical ideas for the betterment of women’s life around the globe and a passion to see them through are invited to join the sub-committee. The Forum meets at Kerala House on alternative Sundays, providing physical and mental well-being activities for its members. The Forum also conducts regular social and cultural gatherings, outings, talks and seminars about women and family-related matters, which are open to all.
If you would like to volunteer in any area of their activities please contact MAUK Women’s Forum on 0208 553 4667 or email- email@example.com
