Sicily George

Noted U.K Malayalee writer and M.A.U.K life-member Sicily George passed away.

Sicily George (78), a noted writer and a very notable social figure within the Malayalee community in the UK, passed away at Whipps Cross University Hospital, London.

She was admitted to the Whipps Cross University Hospital East End of London in November 2021. Her condition deteriorated and she passed away on Friday 24/12/2021.

Sicily leaves behind two daughters and a son. Eldest Jilmet is in the UK, Juliet is in US and son Jerish is in Canada. Her husband Late Raphael George passed away when Sicily George was 36.

Sicily George who was from Puannyurkulam in Thrissur district, has been living in East London for the last ten years.

She was a life member of M.A.U.K and an active member of the M.A.U.K Elders Forum. She wrote and directed numerous short plays and skits for many stage shows. Her charisma and encouragement have given many members of the M.A.U.K Elders Club the opportunity and courage to perform at various stage shows.

She had published many literary works, notably the novel “Pakshi Pathalam”. Sicily George regularly featured on Kattankappi and Kavithaum (Coffee and Poetry) events, the independent Malayalam literary platform supported by M.A.U.K, presenting poems, short stories, reviews on literary works.
