In December 2019 Malayalee Association of UK (MAUK) in the UK had taken on the objective of helping a poor labourer family to have their own home.

The MAUK Board, on request from a social worker Jose Mathew from Kerala, agreed to take on the project of helping to build a house for Nirmala

Nirmala lives with her 67 year old husband who suffers from poor health, her son, who has physical impairments and ten other members of her extended family, including teenage girls, in a dilapidated house with a makeshift roof.

Jose Mathew arranged a plan to be drawn free-of-charge. The building was built on a 705 square feet house on the only 4.5 cent land they own. This is the only land that this family of 13 have to their name.

Jose managed the
project on behalf of MAUK.
